You leave the Riad in the morning towards Essaouira (circa 160 km, 2h30m trip). On the road to Atlantic Ocean you stop and visit one of the many cooperatives of Berber women that work a particular kind of olive, that picked from Argan tree.
This ancient tree is threatened with extinction, grows only in this area of Morocco and is protected by UNESCO.
A special oil is extracted from the stones of its olives and is famous for its powerful anti-radical benefits in the care of the skin.
It is used in the food field too and its taste is very similar to that of toasted nuts.
After the visit of the cooperative, you reach Essaouira to visit the Medina and to get your lunch by a fresh fish kiosk near the harbour.
In the afternoon we suggest a visit of the Portuguese walls and bastions that have been constructed after the conquest of the city during the 16th century.
